Wellesley College Founders Hall is a masonry building designed in the collegiate gothic style and constructed in the early 1900s that currently houses classrooms and office space for the school. BSC was retained by Wellesley College to investigate sources of ongoing water infiltration and general maintenance problems and to make design recommendations to address those problems. BSC identified the sources of the leaks and performed a general building enclosure condition survey to inform our repair recommendations. We then produced comprehensive construction drawings and specifications to improve building performance. The repairs included the replacement of all roof flashings (ridge, valley, hip and step flashings), isolated areas of roof replacement, as well as the re-pointing of stone caps, chimneys, and architectural stone features.
