Located on several acres of land, the house was designed as a simple, energy-efficient and comfortable home that offers single-story living. The house features three bedrooms, two and a half baths, an open living, dining and kitchen area, full basement as well as an attached garage. The large sliding doors on the south and west walls offer beautiful views of the woods surrounding the house as well as the pond located at the front of the property. The high-performance enclosure includes 4” of rigid foam insulation on the exterior of the walls with 2” of closed-cell spray foam inside the stud cavities, 2” of closed-cell spray foam and 24” of loose-fill cellulose insulation at the attic floor, 4” of rigid foam insulation at the interior of the basement walls, and 4” of rigid insulation below the slab. A high-efficiency condensing furnace, an instantaneous hot water heater, a heat recovery ventilator (HRV) as well as solar electric and hot water panels comprise the mechanical system in the house.
