MIT Lincoln Laboratory

Location
Lexington, MA

MIT Lincoln Laboratory comprises multiple buildings that form the Lexington, MA campus. BSC was retained to investigate leaks and significant condensation problems at one such building. Through field investigations BSC identified the sources of water intrusion and the mechanisms and conditions contributing to the condensation problems. As the Architect of Record for the repair and rehabilitation of the laboratory, BSC provided construction documents and specifications that both addressed the existing problems and made additional improvements to extend the service life of the building. The design included adding insulation and a new cladding system, window system replacement, and the replacement of the roof system, which also involved the removal of existing skylights. BSC coordinated building enclosure work with mechanical and electrical work performed at the same time.
